Queanbeyan has a very proud history and in the same year Canberra celebrates its centenary, Queanbeyan will celebrate its 175th birthday.

Queanbeyan City Council’s Heritage Advisory Committee has been working on a program of events to celebrate this momentous occasion. Events will run throughout 2013, leading up to a major celebration on Queanbeyan’s birthday – 28 September 2013.

Some of the events planned to celebrate Queanbeyan’s 175th birthday on 28 September include:

  • Official opening of Queanbeyan’s Sensory Garden
  • March through streets of Queanbeyan
  • Musical performances
  • Entertainment
  • Birthday cake

The 175th birthday will also be celebrated at various other events throughout the year including Youth Week, History Week, Seniors Weeks and Aboriginal events.

This also includes ‘The Way We Were’ exhibition and a ‘Halloran’s Way’ exhibition by the Queanbeyan Museum.

The Committee is continuing to work on ideas to help celebrate Queanbeyan’s 175th birthday and hopes to add to the list of events prior to 2013.
