25 January
The Australian of the Year Awards are held in the forecourt of Parliament House in Canberra on the eve of Australia Day, followed by an outdoor concert Australia Celebrates Live! which is broadcast nationally on ABC1 and features some of the nation’s most popular acts. Catch all the action on the lawns of Parliament House.

26 January
On the day itself, Stage 88 in Commonwealth Park hosts the Great Aussie Day breakfast from 7.30 am with family fun to follow. The program continues with an Australian Flag Raising and Citizenship Ceremony at Rond Terrace from 9.00 am, and fireworks on the lake in the evening. The best viewing spot for the fireworks is Regatta Point.

The Aboriginal Tent Embassy was created 41 years ago in front of Old Parliament House (home of the Museum of Australian Democracy). A Survival Day Ceremony is conducted at this site, on the lawns in front of Old Parliament House on 26 January.
