The major new development at the Zoo will begin to take shape in 2013. An “open range “style section of the zoo will see the zoo triple in size within two years and round off the zoos unique blend of an aquarium, metropolitan zoo and open range zoo all combined in to a single venue in a capital city.

The program of events at the National Zoo & Aquarium will both showcase the development of the Zoo, and link to the celebrations of Canberra’s 100 years. Every Month there will be a themed day or special promotion relating to the Centenary. A sample of these programs include; How have Zoos changed in 100 years? What role do Zoos play in 2013?
