Murumbung Yurung Murra Cultural Tours celebrates the rich heritage and ongoing connection of the traditional Custodians of the ACT, the Ngunnawal people. Murumbung Yurung Murra is Ngunnawal for Good, Strong, Pathways—connection to lore and country.

Murumbung Yurung Murra Cultural Tours provide Canberra residents and visitors with an opportunity to visit various sites of significance and experience the beauty of Ngunnawal country from a contemporary and traditional viewpoint and engage with local Aboriginal people. Join one of the tours and gain an insight into how the Ngunnawal people used the landscape, gathered resources, and viewed their responsibility as custodians to a very sacred meeting place where neighbouring tribes gathered for ceremony, marriage, trade and lore.

Murumbung Yurung Murra offers two types of tours. The Ngunnawal Country Cultural Tours visits sites of significance in Namadgi National Park, Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve and Mulligans Flat Sanctuary. The Canberra Based Cultural Tours visits the sites of significance within Canberra urban parks and open places and other locations with a historic or artistic Aboriginal connection.
Souvenirs made by Murumbung Yurung Murra will also be available to purchase.

Murumbung Yurung Murra is a collective of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people working within the ACT Government in land management, heritage, conservation and cultural interpretation. Murumbung Yurung Murra were awarded the 2011 ACT NAIDOC Caring for Country Award by the local Indigenous community for their collective role in conserving Canberra’s natural landscape, protecting the sites of significance and educating the wider community on the cultural heritage of the region.

Murumbung Yurung Murra Cultural Tours allow you to visit some of the vibrant and exciting Indigenous events taking place around Canberra during 2013, including the Multicultural Festival, the Gold Creek precinct and Burrunju Aboriginal Gallery among others.
