Show Us Your Limits

The Show Us Your Limits photographic, short film and digital media competition is closing soon!  For your chance to win great prizes submit your entries by 4.00pm on 31 August 2010.

The 28th of June 2010 marked the 100th anniversary of the commencement of the border survey of the Federal Capital Territory, later to be known as the Australian Capital Territory. Surveyor Percy Sheaffe would later write of the survey:

“In places the country encountered was so rough that the party carrying out the survey had to crawl on all fours, measure over precipices, and descend in one mile about 1500 feet”

Some members of our community now live within 100m of the border. Some explore the border regions on foot, on bikes, on skiis, on trains, or in the air. 

Entries are sought that explore the gruelling history of the border survey, and show us how you now interact with and explore the border regions and the limits of the ACT.

Winners of the photography, film, and digital media categories will each win a $500 prepaid visa card. The winner of the final category, the under 18 years open media category, will win a $250 prepaid visa card.

At the conclusion of the competition, submitted entries will be considered by a digital artist and may be developed into digital artwork to further promote and showcase Canberra's borders survey and communities that now explore these areas.
